How To Care for Gold Plated Jewelry

Garnished in Gold pieces are carefully crafted with 14k & 18k gold plating over brass, stainless steel, and sterling silver. While we believe in the quality of our jewelry, here are a few tips to keep in mind to uphold the integrity of your Garnished in Gold.

Understanding Gold Plated Jewelry

Contrary to popular belief, gold plated jewelry is quality and durable. Popular jewelry material like brass, stainless steel, or sterling silver is coated in 14k or 18k gold. What's the difference between 14k and 18k gold? The answer is simply the amount of gold each one may contain. While 14k gold has less gold in the coating, it is said the be more durable due to more alloyed materials being mixed in. Whilst 18k gold has more gold than alloyed materials and is said to be more valuable. At Garnished in Gold, we believe that both 14k and 18k gold is quality and last for years to come.

Caring for Gold Plated Jewelry

To maintain Garnished in Gold's utmost integrity, we recommend steering clear of prolonged exposure to water, creams, oils, etc. While small amounts of exposure to these elements will not immediately compromise the integrity of your Garnished in Gold, prolonged exposure will eventually effect your jewelry's brilliance. Store your pieces in a cool, dry place to avoid contact with damp air. Classic Cuffs can be stored in the storage bag provided with purchase.

Cleaning Gold Plated Jewelry

Earrings, Rings, and Necklaces: Simply use the jewelry cleaning cloth provided with your purchase to clean and make your Garnished in Gold like new.

Classic Cuff: Classic Cuffs would not be cleaned with a jewelry cleaning cloth as the fibers in the cloth can fade the gold plating over time. Instead, give your Classic Cuff a quick cleanse with liquid soap and water and thoroughly pat dry.

By following these straightforward instructions, you can ensure that your Garnished in Gold piece(s) will last for years to come. A little attention and care goes a long way! Thank you for trusting us with your adornments and we hope that you enjoy wearing your Garnished in Gold!
